-Q: DEVO + Disney = ? - - - - A: DEV2.0
DEV2.0 is a strange, Corporate-Feudal experiment that attempts to bring the original DEVO music sensibility to children in the 5 to 8 year old demographic range.

The band is composed of 5 talented kids ranging in age from 10 to 12 years old. They are able to play and sing. DEVO produced the music for them and Gerald Casale directed all of the videos for the DVD which was funded by Buena Vista Records, a division of the Disney Company.

The "Devo 2.0" CD is available via Disney Sound. A companion DVD features animated and live action videos for each of the tracks directed by Devo bassist and co-founder Gerry Casale.

Of course, some spuds were horrified to hear that Disney had watered down DEVO's lyrics for a younger market. Did DEVO sell out? What would make them do such a thing?

Michael Pilmer, DEVO's web master, fan club president, and overall DEVOtee, gives his 2 cents:

"I understand your initial aversion to the Disney project, but think about it - DEV2.0 is the ultimate, and possibly the only way that DEVO can be injected into today's pop culture, ready to spring DEVO's subversive back catalog on unsuspecting spuds worldwide.

This is both high & low Devo meeting in the age of George Dubya's reign - Something that the spudboys could've only dreamt back in o-HI-o. DEV2.0 is the ultimate collision of Devo and mainstream Big Entertaiment. Just watch as affected young spudlings everywhere discover more through Devo's back catalog, and point & laugh when their parents find out & blame Disney for spreading such deviance."

We hope many young spuds will discover the original DEVO through this DEV2.0 experiment. Let it be known... DEVOLUTION IS REAL!
